Home Office: Public Consultation
Asked by: Sarah Olney (Liberal Democrat - Richmond Park) Wednesday 5th April 2023 Question to the Home Office: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, which consultations published by their Department are awaiting a response; and when each of those responses (a) were initially planned to and (b) will be published. Answered by Sarah Dines Policy teams across the Home Office consult regularly during the policy development and implementation cycle. Information is available on gov.uk on all open and closed consultations published by the Home Office including the closing date for open consultations and, where available, the Government's response. The Cabinet Office has published best practice ‘consultation principles’ for government departments. |
National Security Bill: Journalism
Asked by: Barry Sheerman (Labour (Co-op) - Huddersfield) Wednesday 19th October 2022 Question to the Home Office: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, whether she has had recent discussions with the National Union of Journalists on the potential impact of the National Security Bill on members of that organisation. Answered by Tom Tugendhat - Minister of State (Home Office) (Security) A significant number of representative bodies from industry, including the National Union of Journalists, have contributed to the development of the National Security Bill, including through the Home Office public consultation which was conducted in the summer of 2021. They also participated in targeted roundtable engagement conducted by the Home Office in the Summer of 2022. |

Asked by: Layla Moran (Liberal Democrat - Oxford West and Abingdon) Friday 4th February 2022 Question to the Home Office: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, when she plans to bring forward legislative proposals on countering state threats. Answered by Damian Hinds - Minister of State (Education) The Home Office will be introducing new legislation to provide the security services and law enforcement agencies with the tools they need to tackle the evolving threat from hostile activity by foreign states. The Government is reviewing responses to the Home Office Public Consultation on legislative proposals to tackle state threats. Legislation will be introduced as soon as parliamentary time allows. |
